Our National Sale Expanding To Include Commercial Cattle

Our Maine-Anjou Beef Australia National Sale is set to be bigger and better next year, mark the sale date in your planner! Saturday February 23, 2019 at Bendigo Showgrounds.

We are introducing commercial Maine-Anjou females (to be in pens up to 6 head) into the sale plus steers (also to be in pens up to 6 head) and of course we will have our stud cattle lots as well.

Our sale will again be conducted by Landmark and Embling Rural, longtime supporters of our National Sale. The commercial females and steers will be sold at open auction at 12:30pm prior to the helmsman stud stock auction at 1pm.

The introduction of commercial Maine-Anjou cattle into our National Sale provides farmers with more options.

One of the benefits is farmers now can purchase part bred registered Maine-Anjou stock to try out in their commercial herds before entering the stud market.

The commercial cattle will also bring new faces to our breed and what better way to display the potential of Maine-Anjou than with our commercial stock.

We have a few options for commercial females, they must be either registered with Maine-Anjou Beef Australia, be any breed in calf to a Maine-Anjou Beef Australia registered bull or both.

What are the requirements to enter a commercial pen of Maine-Anjou females?

  • Vendor must be a paid registered member of Maine-Anjou Beef Australia – remember we have junior, associate and full membership options.
  • All cattle entered must comply with biosecurity (J-BAS) rules of the sale.
  • Must be dehorned.
  • Commercial females must be registered with Maine-Anjou Beef Australia as either A (half bred), B (3/4 bred) or C (7/8 bred). Or commercial females must be in calf or have a calf on the ground to a registered Maine-Anjou Beef Australia bull – for example an Angus female in calf to a registered Maine-Anjou Beef Australia bull.
  • All females declared to be in calf must be accompanied by vet certification.
  • All females will be independently vet inspected at the National Sale for fertility, structure and temperament.
